Just to let you know I visited the linked XDA Forum, as kindly suggested, and found a very useful tip on there via a Q & A Galaxy S6 Edge topic, (basically same as S6) that a 'Dr Fone' program, downloadable for a fee, (recommended on line from an Asian Youtuber I notice), can access a phone to retrieve files, but it then encrypts the original files left on there, using up more drive space, and presumably making them inaccessible to other recovery apps.

Same seems to apply to Samsung Smart Switch program.Īny suggestions for a trustworthy recovery program from dead phones? Samsung Kies blurb on their site only seems to be for phones that aren't dead, and you seem to need the app on the phone too. They make it look fairly easy to do on Youtube once you've downloaded the programs.

Just wanted the name of a trustworthy program to download. I'm fairly techy myself, but behind the curve on telephony, so wanted to have a go myself first on downloading one of these retrieval programs to laptop to get data from phone myself via USB link. Don't think I need that in this case, but often wonder if there is anyone like that around Sheffield. and then putting them in readers with all sorts of equipment. You see all sorts of amazing abilities of these chaps on Youtube, usually in USA, retrieving data from waterlogged phones, and even from memory chips, melting protective coatings off etc. Yes next port of call a Samsung repair agent.

Yes, tried USB PC connection first, as I used to transfer photos to laptop for evidence purposes, but wouldn't you know it, not for a good while, so loads of important photos and CCTV stills and video still on there to get off.

Any further suggestions, or recommendations for reliable trusted software recovery downloads to transfer data from a dead phone to my laptop please? Never had to do this before but files are too important this time. So now assume phone is dead, or having a battery issue. Next I charged it again for a few minutes to ensure charged enough for more recovery attempts by button reboots in case it had discharged overnight for some reason. Nothing worked as described by the Youtube techies by simultaneously pressing of various booting buttons, sound up and power button similtaneously for up to 20 seconds etc etc, with nothing working to re boot the screen.

Next day I went on Youtube to find out how to get the notorious 'black screen' working again as the phone itself had obviously been working the night before with just screen not lighting up. I tested the phone was on by receiving a call which rang out OK o phone and when I did not answer (couldn’t see to answer) It pinged a missed call overnight for a few hours then stopped. Once charged I switched on the device and then my screen did not light up, but the blue booting up light glowed top left, indicating the phone itself was working. The screen had immediately broad stripes across it like a zebra crossing. The other day my Samsung Galaxy S6 with important files on it was discharged to 1% so I plugged in the charger.
